Mechanisms of Interest Protection by the Youth Civil Society in Ukraine

March 17, 2010, in Kiev

FES and Humanitarian Collegium conducted on March 17th a brainstorming event that was devoted to the problems of the NGO-development and mechanisms of lobbying by NGOs for their interests. Participants noted that a general problem of the Ukrainian NGO movement today is that the civil society doesn't believe in the effectiveness of their activities. NGOs themselves suffer from the absence of the belief that they can bring substantial change to  the situation in their respective spheres. To enhance the development of the NGO movement it is necessary to increase ther awareness on how to conduct their activities and how to lobby their interests. Also it is necessary to concentrate attention on the development of the smaller NGOs, oriented on the resolution of the concrete problems existing in the society with further spreading out the best practices around the country.

More detailed information on the results of the event one can find at the Ukrainian version of the FES site.
