Regional Office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Kiev in cooperation with Union of NGOs “Open Space” and Women Consortium of Ukraine organized on July 10, 2009 a round table “Antisexismus in Advertisement in Ukraine”. During the round table participants concentrated attention on the need of gender equality issues to be discussed at Ukrainian society. There were positions that there are more important issues and gender sphere is not among the top priorities. Also, supporters of this view stated that advertisements are just reflecting the situation in the society and demand of the society for such kind of content.
On contrary there were participants stating that everything is changeable and if there is negative tendency it should be tackled and the main role in tackling such problems as sexismus in advertisement lies on the shoulders of civil society structures.

There was also mentioned that there is growing number of gender balanced advertisements that during recent period of time was produced by Ukrainian advertisement companies- that shows a new positive tendency.
Regarding what should be done – the first there is a need for legizlation support but participants agreed that the main role is initiatives, protests, activities on grass rout level of the civil society. NGO s to be effective have to receive support from ordinary people.
